A Seattle Rental Set Up for Remote Work
Every listing claims "fast Wi-Fi and a workspace," and it usually turns out to mean a kitchen chair and a router from two apartments ago. We work from home ourselves, so our Mount Baker rental got the office we'd want: its own room, a standing desk, an external monitor, and 500 Mbps Wi-Fi. If you're coming to Seattle with a job in tow, this page is for you.
The Office
The office is its own room, not a corner of the bedroom. It has a standing desk, an external monitor to dock into, a window with treetops instead of a wall, and a door that closes when the rest of your party is on vacation and you are not. The Wi-Fi runs at 500 Mbps, which holds up video calls and screen shares with plenty left over for whoever's streaming downstairs.
The rooftop deck is two flights up for coffee between meetings, and the gas fire pit is there for when you close the laptop.
The Pacific-Time Advantage
If your team is on Eastern time, working from Seattle means your meetings compress into the morning and your afternoons open up. Start at 7, done by 2, at the Mount Baker Park beach or on the Link light rail into the city by 2:30.
If you're in town for office days instead, downtown is about 15 minutes by train from Mount Baker Station, and South Lake Union is the same ride plus a short streetcar hop or walk.
Set Up for a Full Work Week
The house is stocked for a real week of living: a full kitchen with a dishwasher, a washer and dryer with detergent provided, a grocery store next door, and a garage for your car if you brought one. There are two bedrooms, a king and a queen, so a traveling partner or colleague isn't sleeping on a sofa bed. Quiet hours are 10 PM – 8 AM, and the neighborhood keeps to them.

How fast is the Wi-Fi, really?
500 Mbps. That covers simultaneous video calls and screen shares without anyone asking who's hogging the connection. The network name and password are in the house when you check in.
Is the workspace a desk or a kitchen table?
A desk, in a separate office room, with a standing desk, an external monitor, and a door that closes. The kitchen table stays a kitchen table.
Can I book a long-term stay?
No — we host short-term stays only, so the calendar isn't open to monthly or extended bookings. For a work trip of up to a couple of weeks, though, the house is well set up.
